Michelene Wilkerson - Community Manager

Michelene shares what it took for her to get over the shame of her story, how that relates to owning her presence in spaces and Jason and Michelene talk through what good growth and bad growth can look like.

"Not all growth is good growth."

Michelene is blessed to be a Black woman who identifies as a quirky, introspective, ambivert. A part of her is highly anxious, and she is learning to work with that. She is a whimp who enjoys thrills and would say no to killing a bug but would say yes to jet skiing, even though she cannot swim. She heavily relates to her Cancer-Leo cusp and her Capricorn moon.

Her friends see her as a deep, empathetic, fashionable, and funny person, and they wish she would charge her phone and respond to texts faster because she prefers phone calls. She is known as the recovering late friend, and though she may be a little late to a hangout, she always holds it down when it matters most.

She enjoys work, but she really enjoys her leisure time and spending time with the people she loves, which took her a long time to admit due to #HustleCulture. She has achieved big goals and has big ambitions, but she no longer subscribes to the idea of "sleep when I die." She believes there's more to life than work and wishes she had spent more time with her father before he passed. She cares deeply about mental health.

She recently re-evaluated her core values and is working to intentionally build a life with courage, faith, freedom, safety, and self-respect. She has been reclaiming and rediscovering her voice, and she knows that she has something great to say as her story continues to unravel.
